Death
My dad told me that when he was 5, he was sitting on the staircase of his house and cried. I asked, "Why?" He said he was lamenting about death. He wished that when he grew up, a longevity pill would had been invented.
I used to also fear death.
I also think about depression and sadness differently.
There's the Buddhist philosophy in which you see everything just as the way it is. You see death, it is death. You see happiness, it is happiness. You see sickness, it is sickness. There is no glorifying, no fantasies, no emotional blurriness.
It is what it is. Not bad, not good, just is.
In fact, sometimes sadness and fear is welcomed in order to balance the happiness that I usually feel. By comparison, happiness is happier when one has felt sadness.
Imagine that I die suddenly on my happiest days. It would be a shame, for others.
For me, I'll be dead and unconscious. Happy days are the same level of happy when they are experienced in one day or thirty days. This is an all or nothing type of thing.
So, no attachments.
Life is such a fucking abyss, and the human race is a dust particle, it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.
